A video that gave me chills (and lots of hope)

The other day I got another email from someone frustrated about how badly our food is regulated in this country...

"Wouldn't it be something if a convention were held in which all these Government officials, and various folks responsible for approving and hiding the ingredients in our food were served the very foods they claim to be healthy? A nice side of beef and poultry injected with hormones, a pile of McDonalds French fries, some veggies treated with Roundup and a tall glass of Mountain Dew. Perhaps dessert made from a boxed red velvet cake. A chef could make it look oh so beautifully presented. THEN, discuss the issues! I wonder how they would feel about their meal then? Do you think they would clean their plates? Oh, I would love to be a fly on the wall."

It's true that most politicians and regulators don't care about our food or our health, and they aren't doing much to change it. This is why I've often said that it's going to take a grassroots movement to make a difference, instead of going to the top and expecting our governmental leaders to do what's right.

While I don't know how you vote - if you are a democrat or republican or neither - I want to let you know about a candidate running for President who cares deeply about our food supply.

I've had several opportunities to sit down and discuss the food movement with Congressman Tim Ryan from Ohio. We have become friends over the years because his philosophy on food is very similar to mine…he advocates for real food, organic farmers, and for improving food in our school system. He's even a member of the Food Babe Army. Tim wrote a book (The Real Food Revolution) which featured the Food Babe Army's work in taking on Subway restaurants. He announced today that he is stepping into the ring for the 2020 Presidential race.

Here's a short 6-minute video that gave me chills, but most importantly hope. If you feel as strongly as I do about changing the food system, please watch it now.

I know politics are polarizing. But as Tim Ryan says, "we need to get past politics....we've got to find some common ground". If we want safer food for ourselves, our families and our communities, it's important to support candidates who are advocating for real solutions in this area.

This is not an endorsement of all of Tim's policies. I'm sharing this with you because it's a breath of fresh air to finally have a politician bringing forward ideas on how to improve not only our food, but to help bring us together as a country to address this very important issue. I don't know of any other candidate making food a central issue, do you?

If you were moved by the video, please share it.
