| Tell President Obama to Stop Release of New Toxic Herbicide! Posted: 09 Oct 2014 09:25 AM PDT  Our world is becoming increasingly infiltrated with a number of chemicals, pesticides, and pollutants that are quickly destroying our health. While many of us would like to think the USDA (United States Department of Agricultural) and the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) are here to protect us from these toxins by preventing their approval and subsequent release into our environment, the exact opposite seems to be true. The EPA is expected to approve a brand-new, highly-dangerous herbicide Enlist Duo, a toxic combination of glyphosate (found in Roundup) and 2,4-D, a chemical used in Agent Orange. This new herbicide, once approved, will be sprayed onto genetically-modified soybeans and corn, further decreasing the quality of the already-questionable “food.” Simply avoiding these foods and eating organic may not be enough, as herbicides have the potential of traveling and affecting nearby crops. Not only that, herbicides may travel to nearby schools, offices, and residential areas, making direct contact with a large number of individuals. Over 500,000 public comments, numerous letters from medical professionals and independent scientists, and 60 members of congress are urging against the approval of this herbicide and new GMO crops. Despite this effort, the presence of these toxins in our environment appears inevitable. The good news is that there’s still time to do something about it. Your voice may be enough to help stop this new herbicide before its full release on our planet. The Organic Consumers Association has put together a letter you can sign that is geared toward urging President Obama to stop this herbicide and the people pushing its release. Upon signing, you can call the White House hotline at (202) 456-1111 and politely make your voice heard against the toxic madness. Specifically, voice your concerns about Dow’s Enlist Duo, the new herbicide, and don’t forget to also mention your concern over the new GMO crops being grown throughout the country.
