I can't express how thankful I am for all of your well wishes on the birth of my baby girl. Those of you who have taken the time to send me a note, I want you to know that I read them all and appreciate you so much - so, thank you. You truly are an amazing community! Little Harley has been sleeping, breastfeeding well, and we're getting into a routine and cherishing every minute.
As I sit here at home hanging out with my beautiful newborn, I am so excited to start feeling like my old self again. I'm sure all you other mamas out there can relate! Being pregnant and giving birth is NO JOKE and takes a serious toll on the body. While I know it will take time, I also know that I'll get there.
One of the things that I'm really looking forward to is fitting back into all of the clothes sitting in my closet - but I have about 10-15 more pounds to lose to get there. For me, losing the extra weight after having the baby isn't about aesthetics - but rather about feeling good about myself and comfortable in my own skin - (and I don't want to buy a whole new wardrobe either!)
To get back in shape, the first thing I'm doing is staying away from sugar.
Just doing this ONE THING has helped me slim down in the past and so I know it works. Like I said, getting back to my old self isn't so much about losing weight to me - and that is just part of the picture. When I don't eat sugar I feel healthy and energetic, and that is what I'm striving for. Staying away from sugar also keeps my skin clear, makes me feel happier, and I stay off of the stress rollercoaster. During my pregnancy, I definitely let myself indulge a little more than normal… but now it's time to rein it in!
