Growing up, I remember seeing boxes of easy to make cornbread stuffing displayed all over the grocery store for Thanksgiving.
Let me warn you…
Just because it's been around for years, doesn't make it safe to eat. These are the ingredients in one popular brand:
Enriched Wheat Flour (Wheat Flour, Niacin, Reduced Iron, Thiamin Mononitrate [Vitamin B1], Riboflavin [Vitamin B2], Folic Acid), Degerminated Yellow Corn Meal, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Onions, Salt, Contains Less Than 2% Of Vital Wheat Gluten, Interesterified Soybean Oil, Yeast, Potassium Chloride, Celery, Monosodium Glutamate, Parsley, Maltodextrin, Spice, Sugar, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Turmeric and Annatto (Color), Cooked Chicken, Natural and Artificial Flavor, with BHA (Butylated Hydroxyanisole), and Rosemary Extract as preservatives.
It's amazing how processed this mix is. It contains all sorts of health sabotaging ingredients – High Fructose Corn Syrup (DIABETES), Monosodium Glutamate (OBESITY) and Interesterified Soybean Oil (INFLAMMATION), Butylated Hydroxyanisole (CANCER RISK), and Artificial Flavors (CANCER RISK). Yuck!
