The other day I was investigating products at a grocery store and came across a big 4th of July display full of all the essentials… crackers, dips, buns, BBQ sauce, ketchup, baked beans, sweet tea, and even those big sugar cookies painted red, white and blue.
Although it can be tempting to load up your cart with this stuff (it's wayyyy too easy)...I never do this anymore.
Eating this type of food – even just on a holiday – used to make me feel horrible. I'd wake up with a food hangover with a puffy face.
I've since learned that it's not worth it to sacrifice my health and weight with additive-filled processed foods on holidays – and now I've figured out how to celebrate with fun and festive real food that is actually healthy.
