Now let's talk about what goes in that non-toxic lunchbox.
If you're packing lunches at home, it's easy to fall into the trap of "convenient" foods that are marketed as healthy — but are quietly full of refined sugars, inflammatory oils, artificial flavors, preservatives, and even hidden pesticides.
The good news? Making cleaner swaps is easier than you think — and your kids won't even notice the difference (except that they'll feel better after lunch).
Here are a few of my favorite Lunchbox Swaps that my family loves:
Bread Swap
INSTEAD OF: Conventional bread (loaded with pesticides and additives)
CHOOSE: Organic Bread of Heaven – small batch, glyphosate-free, and made with real organic ingredients (and yes, you can even get Organic White Sandwich Bread!)
Lunch Meat Swap
INSTEAD OF: Deli meats with nitrates, preservatives, antibiotics + hormones, & emulsifiers
CHOOSE: Look for organic, pasture-raised deli meats with simple ingredients — or roast and slice your own! If your kids like tuna, Safe Catch is another good option.
PB&J Swap
INSTEAD OF: Sugary jelly + peanut butter with seed oils and added sugar
